Zhuoyue Fengzi

Zhuoyue Fengzi (C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiangxia Hongjiao'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.315. HAR-12-3., a cross seedling (DHL-No.4) of C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiangxia Hongjiao'. Flowers bright red to deep red, slightly with purple tone, fading to deep pink at the top part of petals, occasionally with white markings or stripes, semi-double form, large to very large size, 11.0- 13.5cm across and 4.8cm deep with 15-20 large petals arranged loosely in 2-3 rows, petals long obovate, central small petals wrinkled, stamens clustered. Leaves dark green, back surfaces pale green, leathery, urgently cuneate at the base, margins smooth. Plant compact, bushy and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from early-summer, fully blooms from autumn to winter and sporadically in spring. The cultivar name means “Remarkable Posture”.
