Eyes of March (C. japonica) ACS, Reg. No.2375. American Camellia Yearbook, 1996, p2. with color photo in color inset 4. A small, deep pink veined red, single C. japonica chance seedling of 'Lady Vansittart', late season. Originated by Stephenson's Nursery, Willow Springs, NC and propagated by Bond Nursery Corp, Dallas, TX. The 20-year-old seedling first bloomed in 1980. Average size flower is 3" wide and 1 1/4" deep with 5 petals, bright yellow anthers, and white filaments. Plant growth is spreading, dense and vigorous with dark green leaves measuring 3 3/4" long and 1 1/2" wide.
