Fragrant Pink Improved

SCCS., 1978, Camellia Nomenclature, p.188: A fragrant flowered polyploid form of Fragrant Pink produced by colchicine treatment. Originated by Dr William L. Ackerman, Glenn Dale, Maryland, USA. ACS, Reg. No.1378. American Camellia Yearbook, 1975, p237. A Hybrid Colchiploid of 'Fragrant Pink' C. rusticana 'Yoslllda’ (P1228187) x C. lutchuensis (P1226756). Plant growth is average, open, and medium in rate with dark green leaves, measuring 3lf4 inches in length and 1¼’’ inches in width. The peony form, ‘Daikacura', type bloom is deep pink, 10 petals, 12 petaloid, orange-yellow anthers and creamy-white filaments. Average size is 2¾ inches in diameter and 1½ inches in depth. A fragrant-flowered polyploid form of 'Fragrant Pink' produced by colchicine treatment. A cytochimera with tetraploid internal tissue and diploid epidermis (2-4-4 composition). Petals have heavier substance, longer and stouter flaments and style than 'Fragrant Pink'. Colchiploid showed 77% normal pollen, compared to 5% for 'Fragrant Pink'. Blooms early to late.

高继银、苏玉华、胡羡聪，2007. 《国内外茶花名种识别与欣赏》，第294页。美国马里兰州W.L.Ackerman博士培育，系短柄山茶(C.japonica var.rusticana)与琉球连蕊茶（C.lutchuensis)的杂交种‘粉香’（Fragrant Pink)品种，经秋水仙素处理染色体加倍后而得。花深粉红色，具甜芳香，半重瓣型至牡丹型，微型花，外轮花瓣宽圆形，平铺，中部花瓣波浪状或扭曲，��心��见黄色雄蕊，花朵稠密。叶片淡绿色，近圆形,薄质，叶齿尖，植株开张，生长中等。花期早至中。
