This 36-year old C. reticulata chance seedling first bloomed in 1983. It was originated by Frank Pursel of Oakland, California, USA and E. Hulyn Smith of Valdosta, Georgia, USA and registered and propagated by Randolph Maphis of Tallahassee, Florida. USA. Bloom: The large sized 12.1cm x 8.9cm semi-double to loose peony form flower is dark red. It has golden anthers and white filaments. This profuse bloomer has fragrance with consistent form and heavy petal texture. It is long lasting and falls in one piece. Plant: The plant habit is upright and spreading. The growth rate is vigor-ous. The plant is suitable for landscaping and exhibition uses. Leaf: The dark green leaves have medium serration and average 11.4cm x 6.3cm. Bloom season: Late.
