Lillian's Shining Star   (C. japonica)   ACS Registration #3111. Registered in 2019. This 12-year-old C. japonica chance seedling of 'Whoopee' first bloomed in 2012. It wasoriginated by Clarence and Lillian Gordy of Ocala, Florida and registered byMark Crawford of Valdosta, Georgia and propagated by Loch Laurel Nursery ofValdosta, Georgia.  BLOOM: The large sized 12.7 cm x 5.1 cm (treated15.2 cm x 6.4 cm) loose peony to full peony form flower is light clear pink. Ithas yellow anthers and white filaments. This profuse bloomer falls in one pieceand is long lasting with heavy petal texture. The bloom is star shaped withpetaloids present in full peony form. When treated with gibberellic acid thestar shape is more distinct. PLANT: Theplant habit is upright. The growth rate is vigorous. The plant is suitable forlandscaping and exhibition uses. LEAF: Themedium green leaves average 8.3 cm x 4.4 cm with medium serration. BLOOM SEASON: Early to midseason.
