New Zealand Camellia Bulletin, March 2001, Issue No. 138, vol.XXII, No.2, p.20, Reg. No.421. Registered by A.V. Iles, Waimana, New Zealand. A chance seedling, parentage unknown, with C.japonica characteristics. The flower is a large semi-double, 10 cm diameter x 6 cm deep, with 21-24 heavy textured petals that are almost circular in outline, and of a glowing deep pink (RHS.CC.55A). The stamens form a small tight column about 11 mm across. The plant first flowered in 1991, and is upright, dense and rapid growing. The dark green leaves are 10 cm long x 5 cm wide. Flowers early to late. Won Clark Cup, Best Japonica seedling, 2000 NZ Camellia Society National Show.
