SCCS., 1951, The Camellia. Its Culture and Nomenclature: White. Medium large, semi-double to occasional formal double. Vigorous, compact, upright growth. Originated by Hugh Shackelford, Albany, Georgia, USA. First flowered 1949; petals 40; late blooming. ACS, Reg. No. 161. American Camellia Yearbook, 1954. p 333: Date of application-July 13, 1953. A 7- year-old seedling of unknown parentage originated and propagated by Hugh Shackelford, Albany, Georgia, was introduced to the trade in 1950, and first flowered in 1949. Plant growth upright, rapid, and compact. Leaves rather small, dark green in color. Flower buds oval, white in color. Flowers 3)~ to 5 inches in size with 40-plus petals. The flowers open like Alba Plena but the petals do not lie back. Flower color white. Flowering season late.
