American Camellia Yearbook, 1965, p.247, Reg. No.681: An 11 year old chance seedling that first bloomed 1960, Originated by Mrs J.V. Knapp, Tallahassee, Florda, USA. Plant growth is open, willowy and slow with dark green leaves, 8 cm x 3.8 cm. The formal double, blood red flowers are 5.5 cm across x 2.5 cm deep with 150 or more petals. Each petal has a creamy white bar down the centre. It is pinched at the top of the petals, showing two tiny white tips, giving a starred and barred effect. Blooms mid-season.
