Yokoyama & Kirino, 1989, Nihon no Chinka, p.222, colour photo & description as Wakakaede’: Small size, deep vermilion red, wide, vase-shaped single with 6-7 wide, rounded, overlapping, emarginate thick petals, and a central stamen column, with white filaments and yellow anthers. Leaves deep green, broad-elliptic, apex acute. Flow­ers mid-season to late. Originated in Kurume City, Fuku’oka Prefecture, Japan.

誠文堂新光社.1998.《日本ツバキ.サザンカ名鑑》.p.286. 久留米市内のヤブツバキの自生樹から久冨舜介が選抜し、1985年に命名した。所在地:久留米市草野町の個人母樹園。樹姿立性で強勢、分枝が密。葉形卵形で波曲。花 一重の筒咲きで小輪、花弁は濃紅色、雄しべは閉じ芯。開花期2月~4月。
