Xingfu Madailin

Xingfu Madailin (C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiafeng Relang'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.233. HAR-02-8., a cross seedling (DXFRL-No.15) of C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiafeng Relang'. Flowers pink and gradually changing into lightly soft pink, occasionally with a few of white markings on the petaloids, semi-double to rose-double form, large size, 10.0-12.0cm across and 4.8cm deep with 18-20 exterior large petals arranged orderly in 3 rows, petals broad obovate, turned outward, bloom dense. Leaves dark green, heavy leathery, broad elliptic, margins shallowly serrate at the upper part and cuneate at the base. Plant compact, upright and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from early-summer, fully blooms from autumn to winter and sporadically in spring. Mark: To congratulate Mrs Celeste M. Richard, the former executive director of ACS, on the birth of her daughter, the hybrid is specially named after her daughter with her consent. The cultivar name means “Happy Madeline”.

幸福玛黛琳 Camellia ‘Xingfu Madailin’ 。刘信凯、钟乃盛、柯欢、武艳芳主编，2023，《第二部四季茶花杂交新品种彩色图集》，浙江科学技术出版社，第233页。 HAR-02-8.杂交组合：杜鹃红山茶×杜鹃红山茶F1代新品种‘夏日热浪’，杂交苗编号：DXFRL-No.15。花朵粉红色，渐渐变为柔嫩的淡粉红色，雄蕊瓣偶有少量白斑，半重瓣型至玫瑰重瓣型,大型花，花径10.0-12.0cm，花朵厚4.8cm，外部大花瓣18-20枚，呈3轮有序排列，花瓣阔倒卵形，外翻，开花稠密。叶片浓绿色，叶背面灰绿色，厚革质，阔椭圆形，长8.5-9.0cm,宽4.0-4.5cm，上部边缘具浅齿，下部边缘光滑，基部楔形。植株紧凑，立性，生长旺盛。夏初始花，秋、冬季盛花，春季零星开花。注：为祝贺美国茶花协会前执行理事塞莱斯特·理查德（CelesteM.Richard)女士的女儿诞生，经她同意，本品种特用其女儿名字命名。
