Xingfu Shidai

Xingfu Shidai (C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiangxia Hongjiao'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.311. HAR-11-3., a cross seedling (DXXHJ-No.7) of C. azalea × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Xiangxia Hongjiao'. Flowers red to dark red with a few white markings, central petals light red occasionally with white stripes, semi-double to rose-double fom，medium to large size, 8.0-10.5cm across and 5.5cm deep with 15 exterior large petals arranged in 2 rows, petals rolled outward, central petals wavy and mixed with stamens. Leaves dark green, back surfaces pale green, leathery, elliptic, cuneate at the base, margins obtusely serrate. Plant compact and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from early-summer, fully blooms from autumn to winter and sporadically in spring. The cultivar name means “The Happy Era”.
