McIlhenny, 1934, List of Camellias for Sale, p.1: Pure red, irregular double, blotched white, 10.5 cm across x 5 cm deep. There are two rows of large petals, outer row consisting of 9. The centre is made up of a few large petals mixed with petaloids and some stamens. Leaves, dark green, twisted, 7.5 cm x 5 cm. Plant growth wide, spreading, willowy and medium in rate. The original plant grew in the old home of Governor Mouton, Lafayette, Louisiana, USA and is believed to be a lost label plant from the 19th century. There is also a similar old plant from which the cultivar Aunt Jetty originated which appears to be a solid colour form of Governor Mouton. SCCS., Camellia Nomenclature lists Aunt Jetty as a synonym as solid colour blooms are not uncommon of Governor Mouton. However this is quite common with cultivars variegated by virus and the solid and variegated forms are accepted as individual varieties. Orthographic errors: ‘Gov. Mouton’, ‘Governor Mouzan’, ‘Governeur Moutans’, ‘Gouvernor Mouton’. Synonyms: ‘Governor Mouton Variegated’, ‘Variegated Governor’. 高继银、苏玉华、胡羡聪，2007. 《国内外茶花名种识别与欣赏》，第102页。美国路易斯安那州Governor Mouton所培育。花红色，泛紫色调，偶有白色斑块，不规则的半重瓣型，中型花，大花瓣2轮，排列整齐，平铺，脉纹明显，中部花瓣波浪状，有金黄色雄蕊混生，花朵稠密。叶片浓绿色，波浪状或先端略扭曲，光亮，植株开张，枝条下垂，生长旺盛。花期中。
