Gerbing Azalea Gardens Catalogue, 1941: Another exquisite white, waxy petals, semi-double, irregular construction. Midseason flowering. Diameter 10-12 cm, stamens in 5 fascicles with a few central petals intermixed, anthers yellow, filaments pale cream. Leaves green, curved, narrow-lanceolate, matt, tips recurved, sharply serrate. Plant with a loose, upright, vigorous habit. See black and white photo, p.204, Hertrich, 1954, Camel­lias in the Huntington Gardens, vol.I. Originated in the USA at Magnolia Gardens, John’s Island, South Carolina. Sport: Lady of the Lake Variegated.
