American Camellia Yearbook, 1959, p.279, Reg. No.361: A 5 year old seedling of King Lear, originated by R.W Ragland, Orange, California, USA which first flowered in 1955. Plant growth is open, upright and rapid. The high built, peony form flower, 9-10 cm across x 6 cm deep is rich coral pink with shadow streaks. There are 36 petals, 20 outer ones, 5 cm x 4 cm and 16 inner ones, folded and wavy, with small groups of stamens interspersed. Flowers mid-season.
