New Zealand Camellia Bulletin, 1982, vol.XII, No.7, p.52, Reg. No.185: A putative hybrid of C.saluenensis x C.japonica originated by G.B. Greenfield, Whangarei. The plant has an open, upright habit of growth with thin textured, dark green leaves. 9 cm long x 4cm wide. Flowers are semi-double, 8 cm across x 2 cm deep, a bright, clear, deep cherry red with 16 petals and 6 petaloids. Anthers are yellow. Flowers very early. New growth bright red.
