Anonymous. 1948, American Camellia Yearbook, p.169: McCaskill Seedling No.179 - Seedling of Elegans, similar in form, foliage, growth habit and flower size. The colour is crimson with a darker sheen. Leaves are medium green, elliptic, acute apex. margins serrate, undulate, 10 cm x 5 cm. First flowered 1944. Originated by McCaskill Gardens, East Pasadena, California, USA.
