Selected from the natural seedlings of C. japonica ‘Hatsu-arashi’ and named by Tomita Kunitake in 1965. Location : Private mother tree garden in Kusano machi, Kurume. Plant habit :Vigorous and uptight. Leaves :Medium, oblong. Flowers :White ground with dashed red, medium size, tubular to trumpet, shaped single. Androecium is a tubular stamen cluster. Blooming season :October to March.

誠文堂新光社.1998.《日本ツバキ.サザンカ名鑑》.ｐ.123. 「初嵐」の自然実生より國武富太が選抜し、1965年に命名した。所在地：久留米市草野町の個人母樹園。樹 姿：立性で強勢。葉形：長楕円形,中型。花 ：一重の筒咲き～喇叭咲きで中輪、花弁は白、色地に紅色の吹掛け絞り、筒芯。開花期：10月～３月
