Zhouban Jinxin

Zhouban Jinxin (C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Mantian Hongxing' × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Jili Mudan'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.403. HAR-28-1., a cross seedling (MTHXJL-No.1) of C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Mantian Hongxing' × C. azalea F1 new hybrid 'Jili Mudan'. Flowers peach red to red, semi-double form, medium size, 8.0-9.0cm across and 4.5cm deep with 12-14 petals arranged tightly in 2 rows, petals wrinkled, thick texture, broad obovate, apices emarginate, stamens slightly united at the base, filaments and anthers pale yellow, flowers fall whole. Leaves dark green, back surfaces pale green, heavy leathery, broad elliptic, cuneate at the base, margins shallowly and thinly serrate at the upper part. Plant upright, branches dense and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from late-summer, fully blooms in autumn and winter and sporadically in spring. The cultivar name means “Wrinkled Petals with Golden Heart”.
