SCCS, 1954, The Camellia. Its Culture and Nomenclature, p.26; American Camellia Yearbook, 1965, p.226, Reg. No.733: (SCCS, No.62-22). Originated by Harvey L. Short, Pasadena, California, USA. A 10 year old seedling that first bloomed 1954, Seed parent: Anita, pollen parent unknown. The peony form flower 12.5 cm by 8 cm, is oriental red, streaked with blood red, stamens intermingled with petals. Flowers mid-season to late on a compact, upright plant.
