Baiban Zhushalian

Baiban Zhushalian. (C. japonica).  Zhou Li, 2011, Illustrated Handbook for Sichuan Camellias, p.222. Plant habit medium vigorous, open, medium branching with short internodes. Leaves elliptic, with apex apiculate, base broad cuneate, measuring 9 cm long by 4.5 cm wide, flat, dark green, glossy, with occasional yellowish stripes, margins slightly reflexed, serration shallow and sparse. Calyxes are opening. Flowers deep red. Petals rounded with white spots, 40 segments. Outer petals flat and slightly recurved, and central petals crinkled. Petaloids by most o f stamens, imbricated tightly, folded with occasional normal stamens. Diameter 7 cm to 9 cm, rose form double, medium floral abundance. Blooming February to April, at fully blooming in March.  Key points of identification: Petals dark red with white spots, folded petaloids with normal stamens. Origin: Sichuan of China.

周利主编、2011《川茶品种图鉴》 p.222. 树势中等，树冠开张，成枝力中等，节间短；叶椭圆形，先端渐尖，基部宽楔形，叶长8cm-9cm，宽4cm-4.5cm，叶片平展，叶绿色有光泽，叶片上偶有黄色斑纹，叶缘波状略反卷，叶齿浅稀；花萼开张，花深红色，花瓣上有白色斑块，花瓣圆形，外数轮花瓣平展略反卷，40枚，花心部花瓣皱裙，雄蕊多数瓣化排列紧密，少量雄蕊散生其间，花径玫瑰重瓣型，花量中等，花期2月-4月，盛花期3月。识别要点：深红色花瓣上有白斑，雄蕊瓣化瓣皱褶与部分雄蕊混生。原始产地：四川。
