Nippon Tsubaki - Sasanqua Meikan, 1998, p.231 with colour photo; English translation p.162. Miniature, deep red, tubular to trumpet shaped single, slender long petals, cylindrical stamen column. Flowers early to mid-season. Leaves narrowly elliptic, small to medium, somewhat plicate. Upright growth. A cross between Shiroyabu-tsubaki (White Bush Camellia) and C.ssp.rusticana Bandai. Originated and released by Nobuo Sasai in 1985, released in 1997. From Okayama Prefecture.
