Latest Illustrated Book of Japanese Camellias, (Camellias of Japan), 2010, p.64 with colour photo; Light red single, rounded petals, tubular to trumpet shape, small. Very prominent, tubular stamen ring. Flowers very early to early. Leaves ovate, medium size, edges recurved. Upright, vigorous growth. A sport of Katayayma-sōtan, found 1993, named by Yoshiharu Yano, Yamaguchi Pref., Japan.
