Jinzhong Xiuqiu

Jinzhong Xiuqiu (C. japonica 'Diaojinzhong' X C. 'Xizi Xianghe'). China Regn. #2021-343. China Flowers & Horticulture, 2021, No.11, p.56. It was orginated and registered by Zhou Li, Song Chunyan and Yin Youhui from the Management Office of Chongqing Nanshan Botanical Garden. In 2011, a hybrid of ‘Diao Jinzhong’  as the female parent, and ‘Xizi Xianghe’ as the male parent. Flowering for the first time in January 2019. Flowers red, pan-purple tones, peony form, medium to large, diameter 9~11cm. The outer large  petals in 1 to 2 whirls, broad oval. Central stamens completely petalpoidized and clustered in a compact globular shape. Flowering densely. Leaves medium green, shiny, and oval, 8-9 cm long and 4-5 cm wide. Blade flat, apec acuminate, base cuneate, margin shallow serrate. Plant open with dense branches and leaves, and the growth is vigorous. Flowering from January to March.

金钟绣球Camellia  japonica ‘Jinzhong Xiuqiu’ 中国登录号：2021-343，《中国花卉园艺》2021年第11期56页。由重庆市南山植物园管理处的周利、宋春艳、尹有惠培育并登录。2011年以单瓣型川山茶‘吊金钟’为母本，与杂交品种‘西子香荷’为父本，杂交后获得的种子，播种后从实生苗中选育而得。2019年1月开始开花。花朵红色，泛紫色调，牡丹型，中到大型花，花径9~11cm，外轮大花瓣1～2轮，阔椭圆形，中部雄蕊完全瓣化，簇拥呈紧实的球状，开花稠密。叶片绿色，光亮，椭圆形，叶长8~9 cm，宽4~5 cm。叶面平展，先端渐尖，基部楔形，叶齿浅稀。植株开张，枝叶茂密，生长旺盛。花期1~3月。
