René de Poulpiquet  (C. japonica), European Reg. Originated by Claude de Poulpiquet, La Forét-Fouesnant, France. A 54 year old plant, first flowered 1965. Registered by Pierre Rohou, Saint Pol-de-Léon. Single, with 6-7 petals, slightly cup-shaped flower, bright red with occasional white fleck at petal edge, 8-10 cm diameter. Anthers gold, filaments white, cream at base. Flowers early to late. Leaves dark green, flat, 8-10 cm x 4.5-5 cm. Plant spreading, dense, with average growth rate.
