Berlèse, 1843, Iconographie, p. facing pl. 248: The flower, 10-11 cm across, is full, regular and deep red with a touch of crimson lake. The exterior 4-5 rows of petals are broad-oval; the others long, a little curled, imbricated irregularly; those at the centre are very small and forming a centre of almost peony form with some aborted stamens. Originated in France by Mr Drouard, Gouillon, Nantes. Orthographic variants: ‘Rubrum Tenerum’, ‘Rubra Tenere’.
