Gao & Zhuang, 1989, The Camellia in China, p.61, No.412, colour photo No.269: Large size, 12-16 cm across, crimson, semi-double with 25-30 large, rounded, incurved petals and a small, central stamen cluster. Blooms mid-season. Leaves large, elliptic, channelled, serrulate, deep green. Similar to Shizitou except that the flowers are a little smaller and a deeper red. Originated in Tengchong County, Yunnan, China.
