American Camellia Yearbook, 1966, p.97, Reg. No.903: A 12 year old seedling of ‘Donckelaeri’, (Masayoshi) that first bloomed 1965. Originated by G.G. McLaurin, Dillon, South Carolina, USA. Plant growth is upright and average with dark green leaves, 9.5 cm x 4.5 cm and resemble those of ‘Donckelaeri’. Blooms variable, semi-double or loose, irregu­lar peony to anemone form. Size 11-15 cm across. Colour ranges from rose-pink to dark red, from the lighter colour of R.L. Wheeler to the dark red of ‘Glen 40’. Flowers early to late.
