» English Description
Sayama-midori. (C. sinensis). Registered in 1953. Selected from seedlings of original Japanese tea inUji. Use for Japanese green tea. Saitama Pref.
[Agriculture registration] Tea Norin 5
[Product registration] None
[Characteristics] A cold-resistant mesomorphic species with a unique scent when withered.
[Developer] Saitama Tea Research Institute (now Yasutama Agricultural and Forestry Research Center Tea Industry Research Institute)
[History] A cultivar selected from the Uji seedling group sown in the fall of 1928 at the Saitama Tea Research Institute. From 1939, various characteristics were tested with the system name of Saitama A1, and after the war, characteristics were investigated at the Kumagaya Agricultural Improvement Laboratory Toyooka Experimental Site, and excellentness was recognized. Registered in Tea Norin 5 in 1953, named “Sayama-midori”.
[Early-early] Middle age. Germination period. The plucking period is almost the same as'Yabukita'.
[Morphological characteristics] The tree is upright. The tree strength is a little strong, and the stock tension is great. The arrangement of tea buds during the plucking period is good. The number of buds is a little high, and the hundred-bud weight is a slightly bud-type breed of dogs.
[Cutting rooting] A little inferior to'Yabukita'.
[Good or bad initial growth] Initial growth is slow, but good after growth.
[How to tailor young trees] According to'Yabukita'.
[Yield] Yield is slightly higher than that of Yabukita'. Since the opening and closing speed is slow, plucking may be delayed when the appropriate plucking period is judged by the normal judgment of the opening degree.
[Quality] The quality of green tea is medium. The appearance is large and the green color of the color is dark. The inside is aroma, light blue, and nourishing. Be careful of steaming because the stems of plucked buds are thick.
[Cold resistance] Cold resistance is strong in winter, but weak against laceration type frost damage.
[Insect resistance] Moderate in anthrax and weak in ring spot disease. Slightly weak for the scale bug.
[Suitable for cultivation] Tea producing areas nationwide.
[Processing characteristics] When it withers, a unique scent is likely to appear
