Nuccios Nurseries Catalogue, 1955, p.19: Beautiful flat, large petalled, white, with large, deep green foliage and vigorous, upright habit. Hertrich, 1959, Camellias in the Huntington Gardens, vol.III, p.336 illustration, p.334, description: Flower single, white, to 10 cm across. Buds elliptic. Petals broad, 5-7, slightly undulate, apices deeply notched. Centre of flower a spreading group of large stamens, greenish-yellow filaments, golden-yellow anthers. Leaves broad-elliptic, semi-glossy, mid-green, coarse serrations, taper­ing apices. Pant habit upright, medium growing and free flowerng. Blooms early. Originated as a chance seedling by K. Sawada, Mobile, Alabama, USA. Orthographic variant: ‘Snow Flake’.
