SCCS, 1962, Camellia Nomenclature, p.108: Rose-red. Large, semi-double to rose form double. Early to mid-season blooming. Originated 1960 in USA by C. Demetropolis, Mobile, Alabama. ACS, Reg. No. 461. American Camellia Yearbook, 1960. p209: Date of application-January 9, 1960. A 9-year-old chance seedling originated by George Demetropolis and propagated by Ted's Nursery, both of Mobile, Alabama. Plant growth is average in habit and medium rapid in rate. The dark green leaves average 3¾ inches in length and 2 inches in width. The rose-red flowers, 5 to 5½ inches in diameter and 2½ in depth, are semidouble to rose form double, having 25 petals and 11 rabbit ears, with white stamens. Flowering season, early to midseason.
