Baiye Zipao

Baiye zipao.( Camellia japonica)  Synonym: Camellia japonica 'Jiaoke yuxue mudan’.  Originate: Sichuan  Characteristics：Plant habit vigorous, with open crown, abundantly branching, obtuse angle of branching, shoots most spreading horizontally, abundant shoots and foliage dense. Leaves light green, elliptic, with apex apiculate, base broad cuneate, measured 9 cm to 10.5 cm across by 4.5 cm to 5.5 cm wide, flat, glossy, serration shallow and sparse. Calyxes are opening, with sepals with white silk-like hairs. Floral buds fully imbricated by sepals with iron-rusty brown shell color. Flowers are deep red. Petals elliptic, with apex irregularly and deeply notched, central venation sharply depressed, diameter 11 cm to13 cm, imbricated regularly and loosely, about 50 segments. Central petals black red, not completely open. Stamens hided beneath central petals. Outer petals covered with white silk-like hairs. Rose double form. Flowering February to April, at fully blooming in March. Easy to sun burning. Key points of identification: Large to very large sized flower, floral buds rusty, flowers deep red, main venation depressed, central petals dark red, not fully open.

周利主编、2011《川茶品种图鉴》 p.20。树势强健，树冠开张，成枝力强，枝分枝角度人，枝多横中，枝叶茂密；叶浅绿色，椭圆形，先端渐尖，基部宽楔形，叶长9Cm-10.5cm，宽4.5cm-5.5Cm，叶片平展，光泽，叶齿浅稀；花萼开张，萼片具白色絹状毛，整个花蕾被锈色焦壳萼片包裹，花深红色，花瓣椭圆形，瓣端有不规则深缺凹，花瓣沿中脉下凹呈凹槽状，花径11cm-13cm，花瓣排列整齐松散，花心部花瓣黑红色，不完全开放，剥开花心可见雄蕊，最外轮花瓣具白色绢状毛，约50枚，玫瑰重瓣型，花量中等，花期2月-4月，盛花期3月。叶片易受日光灼伤。识别特征：大到巨型花，花蕾铁锈色，花深红色，花瓣沿中脉下凹，花心黑红色不完全开放。原始产地：四川。
