Blooms mid-season. Leaves broad-ovate, apices acuminate, coarsely serrate. Originated in China. Chang reports it as synonymous with Dahonglian.

Wang & Yü, 1981, Shancha Hua: A medium sized, scarlet anemone double with 2-3 rows of large, outer, lobed petals and a small, compact centre of petaloids. Synonyms: ‘Zhongban Baozhu’, ‘Saiyanghong’, ‘Haiyunxia’. See colour pl. Chang Shao Yun, 1987, Camellias from Zhejiang, p.61 as ‘Haiyunxia’. Originated in China.

陈绍云等,1985《浙江山茶花》61页。花完全牡丹型,紫红至淡红色,花径8cm左右,花瓣排列3~5轮,30~40枚,卵形,略向背翻,先端微凹,基部微连生;花心50~100枚左右的雄蕊小瓣组成小球状,雄、雌蕊几乎全部瓣化。叶片羽状互生,广椭圆形至卵形,稍扭曲,长8.1~9cm,宽4.3~5.2cm,绿色而暗,先端有叶尾,基部广楔形,叶缘锯齿疏而浅,叶质较厚;叶柄长1~1.1cm。小乔木,高达2~3m,树型开张,枝条披斜或下垂。花期3~4月。
