Yitian Wangyun

Yitian Wangyun (C. japonica 'Tama Peacock' × C. azlea F1 new hybeid 'Hongwu Jixiang'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.419. HAR-35-3., a cross seedling (YUJX-No.4) of C. japonica 'Tama Peacock' × C. azlea F1 new hybeid 'Hongwu Jixiang'. Flowers dark red with waxy luster, with slight fragrance, petals with narrow white borders, in the spring all the stamens change into petaloids, flower color changes into deep pink and central white markings visible, peony form, small size, 6.5-7.5cm across and 6.5cm deep with 13-15 large petals arranged in 2-3 rows, petals broad obovate, turned outward, central small and large petals mixed with stamens, stamens clustered, anthers golden yellow. Leaves dark green, leathery, elliptic, margins shallowly serrate. Plant upright, compact and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from autumn, fully blooms in winter and continuously in spring. The cultivar name means “Look over Cloud against Sky”.
