Taohong Xiumian

Taohong Xiumian (C. azalea × C. japonica 'Kramer's Supreme'). Liu Xinkai et al. 2023, Illustrations of the New Camellia Hybrids that Bloom Year-round, Zhejiang Science and Technology Publishing House, p.21. HA-01-15., a cross seedling (DK-No.25) of C. azalea × C. japonica 'Kramer's Supreme'. Flowers peach red, petaloids with white stripes, slightly fragrant, semi-double to loose peony form, large size, 11.0-12.5cm across and 5.0cm deep, 15-18 exterior large petals arranged in 2-3 rows, edges rolled inward, stamens scattered and mixed with petaloids. Leaves dark green, heavy leathery, broad elliptic, margins shallowly serrate at the upper part and smooth at the lower part. Plant upright and growth vigorous. Starts to bloom from late-summer, fully blooms from autumn to winter and sporadically in spring. The cultivar name means “Peach Red & Bashful Face”.
